The above PDF link is a flyer for an upcoming Town Hall Meeting this Wednesday, September 18th from 6 – 8pm at the Stardust Ballroom (right next to the Rec Center) 41 Backus Street.

We want to hear stories from people with disabilities who are currently in institutions who cannot get out, people who have gotten out and people who have struggled to stay out. We would also like to hear stories from family members, caregivers and attendants of people with disabilities who are in the same boat.

This Town Hall is in response to a recent report released by Senator Tom Harkin’s Health, Education, Labor & Pension Committee titled: Separate and Unequal: States Fail to Fulfill the Community Living Promise of the Americans with Disabilities Act and can be read at http://www.harkin.senate.gov/documents/pdf/OlmsteadReport.pdf
