Hi everyone,

Sometimes system issues are simple. We were recently contacted with concerns that some business for the deaf community are either having a new locations, going out of business or something. RCIL feels it is important to share good news that business are still alive and moving along well.

For those who did not know, National Center for Deaf Health Research (NCDHR) in the past has been promote health and prevent disease in deaf and hard-of-hearing (deaf/HOH) populations through community-based participatory research. I do remember filling out their survey in America Sign Language (ASL) that made the questions easier for me to read and understand in a language that I was comfortable with. I believe that this was one of many exciting moment for many in the deaf/HOH community. And, reaching out to the deaf community to be sure that we can find the data about deaf/HOH health needs. They will be continuning to do some great exciting.

Currently, the NCDHR are will be moving to a new location at 265 Crittenden Blvd., Rochester NY in the Saunders Research Building (SRB). This can be found at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

They will be welcoming everyone to their new home office with an Ice Cream Social at the Saunders Research Building on August 23. Their flyer can be found at the following link: http://bit.ly/pFq2k0 . The Ice Cream social will take place at the Saunders Research Building (SRB), 265 Crittenden Blvd., Rochester NY.

For parking directions: A campus map can be found at http://bit.ly/nwk49r. When going to Saunders Research Building (SRB) Visitor Lot (Lot #14), please take the parking ticket from the ticket dispensing machine. You will receive a parking validation ticket from NCDHR staff. On your way out, insert the original ticket, and then insert the 2nd ticket to cover the parking charge. Please do not become too concerned about parking costs.

Also to add that NCDHR will be upgrading their website and they will post other calendars events and announcement for the NCDHR with a new look on their website. Currently the August calendar can be found as a downloadable PDF document at the following link: http://bit.ly/orzpz2.

Hope you can join the NCDHR’s Ice Cream Social on August 23 from 5:30 to 8 pm at the SRB of 265 Crittenden Blvd., Rochester NY.

Thank you,
