Hi everyone,

Deaf Adult Services (DAS) send me an email that they have some exciting news for people in Rochester. Lillian Garcia Peterkin and Alberto Sifuentes from Northeastern University are coming to town to give a Deaf Self-Advocacy Training workshop.

They are asking for people to register and it seems that there are still room for the training. I believe this would be great opporunity for deaf people to learn about self advocacy. If you are interested, there are two dates April 13 and 14.

For April 13 PDF flyer, you can download it at:
http://phplist.cdrnys.org//dl.php?id=21

For April 14 PDF flyer, you can download it at:
http://phplist.cdrnys.org//dl.php?id=20

If you are interested in attending, email to a.*********@ne*.edu and follow the below steps:

1. Put in the sublect line, “DSAT Training the Trainer, Rochester NY”
2. Your name (full name).
3. mailing address (I believe home address)
4. the day you prefer to go on April 13 or 14.

The training seems exciting because they provide great tools necessary to teach deaf self advocacy. And, topics include advocacy, self-advocacy, self determination, self esteem, requesting interpreter ethics and locating resources.

Sign up soon… they only need 25 people… but I was told there is alot of room available.

Thank you,
